describe yourself

asleep at mal 9/09
I know very little about some of the people on my friends list. Some people I know relatively well. Some we have something else in common and we chat occasionally. Some of you I hardly know at all. Perhaps you lurk, for whatever reason. But you friended me and I thank you.

But here's a thought: why not take this opportunity to tell me a little something about yourself. Any old thing at all. Just so the next time I see your name I can say: "Ah, there's so and so...they're obsessed with so-and-so."

I'd love it if every single person who friended me would do this. Yes, even you people who I know really well. Then post this in your own journal.

Though it was hard to come up w/ something you didn't know, here's 3 attempts in groups of 3:

I have 3 brothers; I almost bagged a hot blonde guy who was more than twice my age when I was *12* (I was a VERY mature 12, I looked 17); I worked for Johnson & Johnson for a few months during college, thus my intense empathy for friends who deal w/ corporate bullshit.

I have had 3, count 'em, three almost-deaths. One time I almost drowned; one time I was hit by a car; & the third time was the scariest - I almost fooled around w/ a guy who turned out to have full-on AIDS, back in the day. I was very young & Naive then, thank the sweet gods my instincts saved me.

Everyone thinks I have 2 tattoos. Actually I have 3.

1. I can count on one hand the people that I actually like.
2. I have almost 3 masters degrees - got 98% through and decided they weren't worth it
3. I am adopted and despise my natural mother (gee, who doesn't)

I'm awful at describing myself! Hmmm, I am a geek by trade, terminally cheerful (although you cannot tell by my journal), and cripplingly shy. I have an endless fascination with fake hair of all types and Hello Kitty. I am desperately in love with my husband, although he annoys me to no end =). I love bread, but it hates me with a burning passion. Sushi is the best food on Earth...and it is kind to my innards - bliss!

Me in a very shallow nutshell - lol!

I'm five feet three inches, and addicted to vaseline. I have a loud laugh especially when I'm happy, and I cry for everything else. I am in love with life. I displace my sketchbook often, and I tend to lose my glasses wherever I go. I stare at canvases. I am inspired. I pretend to dance. I read HOW and almost obsess with time. I have a Fine Arts degree (somewhere), but I concentrated in design. I believe in communication and design is a powerful voice.

Is it cheating if I just copy what I wrote for my info page? don't know. . .

Right now, I'm obsessed with Illustration Friday and determined to develop a style through the interactions in this community. Everyone there is so supportive. I'm working towards my goal of illustrating a children's book (one day)

I'm no good at this but here goes...

I had a horror story childhood which left me very angry for many years. Being the oldest of 3 (two sisters) I did my best to protect them and raise them as well as I could. I used to be wracked with guilt by how bad a job I did. However I have since realized that I did as good a job as an 11 year old should.

During a messy divorce several years ago I had an long series of epiphanies that changed the very core of who I am. It would not be too excessive to say that the person I was died there.

The person that's remains doesn't understand the old me, & is in love with life & all those in it. While I've retained my angry (seeming only) sense of humor I care more about everyone around me more than I will ever have words to describe.

I was raised roman catholic to which I tried desperately to believe up until I was 17 when I finally admitted to myself how much Roman Catholisism+My life (as provided by parents) had messed me up. I spent many years learning to think for myself though in hindsight I had a headstart compared to many.

I have since discovered that the philosophy of life that I developed growing up has a name. It's called buddhism. Since discovering this out (via a silly online meme) I have been voracious to add more buddhist techniques to my mental 'toolkit' to live a more satisfying life.

I'm obsessed with Aromaleigh makeup, yarn, fabric, making endless to-do lists and trying to live a life without regret.
