Writer's Block: AIDS Awareness

It's the 20th anniversary of World AIDS Day today. From clean needles to safe sex, the fight against AIDS has touched everyone's life. How has it affected yours?

wow - too many ways to list

but the things that stand out most are:

the loss of everyone i loved when i was a teen in nyc plus multiple other close friends to the disease
joining act-up & the march on dc
growing even more jaded about anyone's ability to change the world
seeing the aids quilt (and working on squares for loved ones) both times it was displayed in its entirety on the mall in dc
too much death and suffering and way too many funerals and memorials
"safe" sex and volunteering for chase-braxton when i was at umbc/working drag shows
being thankful every day that i got lucky and didn't get aids or anything else
