  • 00:13 Arrrgh - meds are still sticking halfway down my throat. Fix please? At least I ate today - "rice", cheese, a clementine, pork chop, apple. #

You really tweet that much every day?

Only when I'm really brain dead and can barely move or busy with other stuff but need to note things. Now that twitter regularly feeds where I need it to it's become a catch-all, like other friends use tumblers or delicious. Yesterday was probably a pretty bad example though; usually I'd say about half that many updates - feeling like death but not ready to write a detailed entry about it, plus sharing links from LJs and other things as I did a bunch of reading, plus barely enough energy to feed myself = loads of computer.

There are a couple of long LJ posts brewing in the back of my mind, but I'm trying to find the links/dates to when I was first diagnosed with thyroid problems. So I spent part of yesterday going through and tagging/unlocking old entries which made me laugh.

Some of my early LJ's read an awful lot like twitter updates - short statuses, single links, etc. Probably 2/3 of the entries I've gone through from my earliest saved entries in 2001 to April 2002 could be tweets or Myspace or Facebook status updates. Oh, and besides LJ, Twitter does feed to Myspace (on my homepage, not as my status) and Facebook (on my wall I think), for those who prefer those social networks. The twitter feeds and every week or two checks on people who don't LJ are as much time as I'm willing to spend on networks I find infuriating to use.

ETA - also, see staciadevi's comment below. It gives both me and other people an at a glance look back, which atm is pretty important, so I'm trying to learn to use the medium more gracefully. Plus, occasionally someone who's work I admire will respond to me (like @neilhimself, aka Neil Gaiman, who is probably the person most likely to turn me into a raving fangirl) or repost a tweet of mine, which is awesome.

So, I was cooking for someone once, don't recall who, but it was a friend. They commented with obvious disdain that mushrooms were vile as I was stirring (stroganoff?). Then they went on about why (like most ppl who hate mushrooms or beans, it was a texture thing), & then repeated the first statement (eww, mushrooms gross). I said, Mushrooms are disgusting, to YOU. We're all about the eat this, so let's remember to keep the opinions in form of "I think" "I feel" etc, so the rest of us can enjoy the meal. Plus, look, here's 4 dishes that are fungus-free, enjoy. (typical supper party. :D )

My point is simply that FB = fail, for you. I don't think Twitter is fail for me, but it's definitely a system that you use with far greater wit & effectiveness than I do. Some ppl take better to social media X, some on media Y. At least here on lj most of the folks whose writing I want to read/opinions I genuinely care about are mostly in one spot. That's DAMN handy.

Huh. After recommending FB so heartily to felisdemens I realized that it took me quite awhile to get to the point where the hassle was less than the communication. Now I can't do w/out it as I have TONS more professional contacts via there than any other social network.

But it no longer bugs me that I'm not as good @ Twitter as you nor that lj is the ideal format for Cordelia, & not FB. However friends reach out to each other to connect, whatever works. :)

Yay about the Newsweek article, I read that & meant to post it & forgot. Thanks for the nudge. I will RT. :)

Hope you're not feeling too oogie today. *hugs*

Oogie - atm, barely awake, I am going to deliberately skip the non-essential meds today in the hopes of less nausea & a better nights sleep, because last night was bad again.

You are of course right about #fb, and maybe in time I'll get more used to it.

And I remember that conversation re: mushrooms; you and I have had similar conversations about onion, lima beans and peas but with more of the it's texture and not that they're gross overall. I think it was Zero or Jenny who hated mushrooms, but I can't remember for sure.
